John 10:27-28 (KJV)My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
What powerful verses in God’s word right here my Friends. I felt compelled to share a little piece of my heart with you briefly today while just focusing on these two verses alone.
All three of my children are grown now, but reflecting back on the years of raising them it always brings moments and memories to mind that I savor and hold dear now at this stage of my life. I believe that you have to decide in your life to focus not on the negative things that have happened but focus on the positive that has made you the person you are today.
The memory that was so special to me this morning involves my oldest son Brandon. This boy, yes now 25 has always been the one to keep this Mama on her toes let me tell you. He has always had an insight into deep things from an early age that I felt was beyond his years. I have learned a lot from him being in my life since day one.
This one particular memory was one of special reflection for me today, and I could not wait to put it into words. We were visiting an older dear couple that lived nearby. It was a beautiful spot to retreat to on a lot of acreage that we could explore nature all around. I have always been drawn to God’s beauty since a young age, and I feel my children have that love of his masterpieces as well. I would visit this older couple, help them do things that possibly was becoming a tiresome struggle and in exchange became blessed with a beautiful friendship that was effortless. You know the type of people they just are. They just get you, and you get them.
It was time for lunch, I opened the sliding glass door and started yelling (not “calling,” I am southern Y’all, sorry we call it “yelling”). Generally, he would pop his little cotton top head and big eyes around the corner of the barn or come running full speed ahead from the garden area. This time was different, and it was several attempts yelling and no Brandon. Finally after going out on the deck and this time it was a more stern and worrisome yell. He popped up from around the corner flashing that smile that can truly warm your heart on your worst day. I said “Brandon where were you I have been yelling for you? You scared me. I was worried.”
I then had to brace myself for the words that this small child would utter that to this day twenty years later I am now putting into words to share with you. He innocently, but powerfully informed me, “I heard you, Mama. I always hear your sweet voice call my name.” As if that wasn’t enough to tug at your heart as a Mother he proceeds to tell me that he always hears me when I am looking for him, in a big crowd, when he’s sick, when I am outside playing, when the television is even loud he added. “I always hear your sweet voice!”
Wow! Let that soak in if you would for a moment.
Now, take those simple yet oh so profound words of a small child, and I am asking you this today. Do you hear your Heavenly Father’s voice? Are you listening to it? Is he softly calling your name or is he yelling it? Are you letting the chaos of this world and all the negativity drown those words out? I encourage you to rise above the noise and seek him. Stop over-complicating your walk with the Creator, the one that knows the rhythm of your heartbeat and knew you before you were even born. It’s this simple He speaks. You follow.
Seek that voice today and see what he is saying to you.
God Bless You,
(It will be a year next month that I moved from Newnan, GA, I thought I would post a sweet Alan Jackson Video that I feel goes with this post topic. Join me and listen to these soothing words to an oldie but a goodie.)
